Astelin Information
Astelin (Azelastine) may be described as an h1 – receptor antagonist, which relieves one’s symptoms by blocking the effects of Histamine. This medication may also be described as a white, crystalline and an almost odorless powder.
Furthermore, Astelin (Azelastine) may also be described as a steroid – free powder which is known to have a bitter taste, does not contain pseudo ephedrine, is sparingly soluble in water, Methanol or Propylene Glycol and is slightly soluble in Ethanol, Octanol or Glycerin.

Uses of Astelin
Azelastine; an antihistamine works by blocking certain natural substances called histamines that are responsible for allergic symptoms.

How to use Astelin
Azelastine is for use in your nose as directed. For children, dosage is based on age, with younger children needing a lower dose.

Side effects
A very serious allergic reaction to Astelin (Azelastine) is unlikely. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice symptoms of a serious allergic reaction(s) like:
rash
itching
swelling
severe dizziness
trouble breathing

Astelin - interaction
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you also take any of the drugs mentioned below:
tranquilizers
muscle relaxants
anti-anxiety drugs
anti-seizure drugs
medicine for sleep
other antihistamines
psychiatric medicines
narcotic pain relievers

Astelin - overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediatelyor the national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222.

Notes
Before taking Azelastine inform your doctor or pharmacist your medical history :
especially kidney problems
if you have any other allergies
if you are allergic to it or to the preservative benzalkonium chloride

Astelin - Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Astelin - storage
Protect from freezing. Store at controlled room temperature between 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture.

Precaution
If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.
If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.
