Promethazine may cause breathing to slow/stop.
It may also cause death in children. Consult a paediatrician for the use of this medicine in children.
This medicine should not be given to infants and children under 2 years of age.
This medicine should be given to children only if the paediatrician says it is necessary to do so, under strict supervision and with caution.

Uses
Promethazine, a phenothiazine-derivative antihistamine, is used to treat symptoms of allergy such as hay fever, skin allergies and various other allergies.

increased sensitivity to sun/ultraviolet light
inability to sleep (more likely in children)
unusual bleeding/bruising/tiredness
agitation/nervousness/excitability
irregular heartbeat/palpitations
stuffy nose
skin rash
seizures
nightmares
headache
dry mouth
chest pain
blurred vision
yellowing of the eyes/skin
sore mouth/gums/throat
muscle/facial twitches
difficulty/pain passing urine
drowsiness/dizziness
shallow breathing
fainting spells

Interaction
Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form.

Overdose
In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.
If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.

Missed Dose
Do not double doses to make up for a missed dose. Consult your health care professional about your missed dose.

Store at room temperature,away from heat and moisture.

Precaution
Avoid alcohol and alcohol containing beverages whilst on a course with this medication.
Do not treat yourself with OTC medication whilst on a course with this medication, without consulting with your health care professional.
