Singulair Description
Montelukast belongs to the class of meicines known as leukotriene receptor antagonist. -
Uses
Montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist, is used to prevent asthma symptoms.
Montelukast controls asthma but does not cure it. -
How to use
Montelukast will not stop an acute attack that has already started.
Tablets : Ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take montelukast exactly as directed.
Granules : Oral granules to be taken by mixing with or without food. They should not be chewed. These granules can be mixed with soft foods such as ice cream, rice, applesauce. Do not mix these granules in any kind of liquid. -
Side effects
If you notice any of the symptoms listed below or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent contact your doctor immediately.

Overdose
In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911. -
Notes
Before taking montelukast, inform your doctor if you have or have ever had phenylketonuria or liver disease.
