This medication may cause serious/life threatening damage to the liver/pancreas, especially in children who are less than 2 years old or patients already suffering from mental retardation, patients already taking more than one medication for seizure disorders, inherited diseases that prevent changing of food to energy in the body.
This medication can cause birth defects, if you are pregnant, trying to conceive or breast feeding inform your doctor.
If you experience Nausea, Stomach Pain, Appetite Loss, Vomiting, contact your doctor immediately.

Uses
Depakote, an anti convulsant, is used to treat certain seizures caused by epilepsy and also to treat mania in people suffering from Bipolar Disorder.

Overdose
In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

Notes
Drink plenty of fluids whilst on a course with this medication.
Wear a MedicAlert Bracelet/Necklace. Carry some identification with information about your condition and details of your health care professional.

Missed Dose
Do not double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Precaution
Do not stop this medication or change the brand without consulting your doctor.
Inform your doctor if you have had or have Low Blood Protein, Urea Cycle Disorder, Kidney or Liver Disease(s), Blood Disease or Disorder, Brain Damage or Disease.
If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.
If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.
