This medicine is not meant for children below 18 years. If your doctor prescribes this for a younger child please watch for serious symptoms they may develop very suddenly, such as worsening depression; thinking about harming or killing oneself, agitation, panic attacks, difficulty falling asleep, irritability; aggressive behavior, severe restlessness, frenzied excitement. -
Uses
Generic Citalopram, a Selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRI)is used to treat mental depression.

How to use
Take celexa exactly as prescribed by your health care professional.
Contact your paediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children.

Side effects
If you notice any of the symptoms listed below or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent contact your doctor immediately.
seizures
diarrhea
vomiting
dry mouth
drowsiness
excitement
stomach pain
hallucinations
sleep disorders
loss of appetite
excessive tiredness
excessive sweating
nervousness / agitation
changes in sex drive or ability -
Interaction
Inform your health care professional if you are allergic to citalopram or any other medication in any other form.
Inform your health care professional if you are taking any other medication for any reason whilst taking citalopram. -
Overdose
If overdose is suspected, you need to call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim is unconscious or not breathing, you need to call local emergency services at 911. -
Notes
Keep a watch for sudden behavioural changes or worsening of depression and inform your health care professional immediately.
Avoid alcohol and alcohol containing beverages whilst on a course with this medication.
Do not treat yourself with OTC medication whilst on a course with this medication, without consulting with your health care professional. -
Missed Dose
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Storage
Store at room temperature below 25 degrees C / 77 degrees F away from excess heat, light and moisture. -
Precaution
If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.
If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive.
