Uses
Omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, is used to prevent ulcers and to treat other conditions where the stomach produces too much acid.

How to use
Take omeprazole exactly as directed.
Contact your paediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. -
Side effects
If you notice any of the symptoms listed below or any other symptoms which seem severe/persistent contact your doctor immediately.

Interaction
Inform your doctor if you are allergic to the formulation of this medication or any other medication in any other form.

iron
erythromycin
diazepam
clarithromycin
cisapride
ampicillin
amoxicillin
Inform your doctor about any other medication you may be taking in any other form. -
Overdose
In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911. -
Notes
If you conceive whilst on a course with this medication inform your doctor immediately.
If you need to undergo any kind of surgery, inform your doctor you are taking this medicine.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning to conceive. -
Missed Dose
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. -

Storage
Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture. -
Precaution
Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had :
liver disease
black tarry stools
vomit that looks like coffee grounds
have trouble swallowing
if you experience throat pain, chest pain, severe stomach pain
if you use tobacco products. Cigarette smoking may decrease the effectiveness of this drug
if you have had heartburn for more than 3 months
if you have unexplained weight loss; frequent chest pain; or frequent wheezing, especially along with heartburn
if you have nausea or vomiting; stomach pain; heartburn with light-headedness, sweating, or dizziness; chest or shoulder pain with shortness of breath; unusual sweating; pain spreading to arms, neck, or shoulders; or light-headedness
